Kielah (Courtsey Post)'s Story

COURTESY POST

Kielah is a 7-year-old Siberian Husky. We have met this girl, and she is beautiful, sweet, respectful and still has a lot of energy for an adult husky. She is around 35-40 lbs. She has successfully lived with both small and larger dogs, but prefers to be the boss. She is also good with kids 10+ and even cats.

Her owner passed away, and one of our fosters took her in, fundraised for her care (spay and mass removal), and got her healthy and ready for adoption. Her mass was cancerous, but the vet got clean margins, which means she is cancer-free!

Her ideal home would be someone who can exercise her, provide mental stimulation, and maybe a canine friend or two. She does have some separation anxiety, but it is likely due to losing her owner, and she has improved with time in her foster.

She is not at our rescue. If interested, please contact her foster mom, Antje, at antje.spethmann@gmail.com.

This is a wonderful dog; we honestly adore her!

Portland Dachshund Rescue, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
OUR CRITERIA There's nothing better than a successful match. We like to explain the process of finding the right rescue dog as being similar to online dating: You will want to check our site often to see who is new, read each bio and reach out if you think they might have found someone special. Our adoption team is highly skilled at helping you find a dog with the right personality that will fit your family and lifestyle. Occasionally, we receive multiple promising applications for a dog and ultimately match the dog with the home where we think they will do best. We are committed to helping you find a dog even if you don't "match" on your first attempt. We would love nothing more than to help you find the forever dog of your dreams. Although we like to tailor each match, we do have some basic criteria we look with respect to adoptive homes: *Homes should be non-smoking *Have a securely fenced yard *Ability to commit to yearly dentals and shots for the pet *Willingness to purchase ramps and pet stairs to safeguard the dog's back
