Meet Kennedy
Hi, my name is Kennedy! I am approximately five months old and weigh a whopping 10 pounds. My people think I may be a chihuahua/miniature pinscher mix. I was brought into the rescue on Jan 8th after I was found in a box on the side of the road. I was diagnosed with demodectic mange (not contagious to other pets or people), an infection in both eyes, and was severely malnourished. The first few days all I did was sleep and eat. In the six weeks, I have made a fabulous recovery!!
I am potty trained (will go by the door and whine or scratch). I am crate trained for sleeping at night. Just tell me it is time to go to bed. I walk well on a leash but will need further help with this. If I should happen to get around a light pole, mailbox, tree, etc. then I get a little panicked. I like people a lot but can sometimes get startled or start barking if a person comes into the room without my knowledge. I have not been around children while in my foster home. I love playing with my foster brothers and sisters, but I need to meet new dogs with guidance. I enjoy chew toys, the expensive ones or home-made sock and ball toys. I love snuggling after I have eaten and gone out to potty in the morning. I know my name, the command “come”, and “no”. I have been working on “sit”.
I eat well but very quickly. This can be attributed to having been so underweight. I might do well with one of those puzzle bowls that makes me slow down. Also, I will on occasion steal things to chew on i.e. shoes, socks, clothing dangling off furniture or in the closet.
I am healthy, up to date on vaccines, microchipped and neutered. All I need now is a new forever home. Could you be the family I have longed for?
