Keia's Story
Meet Keia! Keia is an adorable 6 year old labrador/golden retriever mix who is looking for her new forever home! She lived with a loving family but health issues arrived for her mom which made it hard for her to care for her sweet Keia and she was surrendered to Brookline so that we could help her find her perfect second act.

Keia, or KK, as her foster family calls her, was a bit shut down when she arrived in foster care, but with a bit of patience and lots of loving pets and cuddles, she relaxed and opened up, showing what a gentle sweetheart she is. Her tail has a constant happy wag and she loves spending time with her foster family and soaking in their love. She is house trained, and can be introduced to other dogs and cats. Her favorite activity is to spend time in the fenced yard strolling around, sniffing all the smells, and barking at squirrels in the trees.

Keia would fit in perfectly with a family that will be home with her most of the time or up for bringing her along in the car when they venture out. She can be left alone for up to 6 hours, but she is happiest when she has company, so the perfect new home will be one where she has lots of support and companionship from her people. She is not a high-energy girl, so a relaxed and quiet lifestyle will suit her very well.

Keia did gain too much weight in her original home, so managing a gentle weight loss journey will be very important for her. She has some arthritis in her hind quarters which is being treated with monthly Librella injections and will hopefully feel better when she has lost the extra pounds. KK enjoys walks and has good, polite leash skills. Her stamina is still building up so walks should be on the shorter side until she has the strength to walk further. Diet will be important as well and her new family will be happy to learn that she is perfectly happy to accept a baby carrot as a treat to help with her low-calorie goals.

She is a sweet loving sweet potato and will make a wonderful companion for a lucky family with a relaxed and quiet household. If you would like to open your heart and home to a girl like KK, she will reward you with sweetness, happiness, love and tail wags every single day.

If you would like to read more about her time in foster care, you can read her blog at the link below from the bottom up.

https://brooklinelabrescue.org/blog/keia-labrador-golden-retriever-mix-female-6-years-old-id3624/

PLEASE NOTE: While this Lab may not be available for adoption by the time you complete the adoption process, other great Labs are always finding their way into our Rescue.

For more information on this Lab, please contact INFO@BROOKLINELABRESCUE.ORG.

If you are interested in adopting this Lab or any other Lab from our Rescue, please visit our Web site, www.brooklinelabrescue.org, for more information on our adoption process.
