Katrina's Story

Meet Katrina!

A 49lb, 2-year-old, Bulldog mix who found herself at the shelter through no fault of her own. Now she’s ready for a fresh start with someone who understands her needs and will give her the stability she deserves.

Katrina is a high-energy pup who loves to stay active! She does well with middle-age/older children, especially those who understand how to respect her boundaries. Like many dogs, she appreciates gentle handling and space when she needs it. Katrina is very dog selective, meaning she doesn’t click with every dog she meets. She'll need plenty of time and slow introductions to choose which one she likes. She may prefer to be the only dog in the home or would need careful, structured introductions to any potential canine friends. She also prefers to have her food all to herself and does not like other dogs around during mealtime.

This sweet girl does experience separation anxiety, so she’ll need a patient adopter who can help her build confidence when alone. A consistent routine, enrichment toys, and gradual alone-time training will go a long way in helping her feel safe and secure.

We do all adoptions with approved applicants by appointment only. If you are interested in adopting, please contact us via FB Messenger or email us at jcasreception@johnsoncounty.in.gov for an application. You can also find one on our website at http://johnsoncountyanimalshelter.com/adopt/. Once an application is submitted and approved, we can set an appointment to meet the pet!
