Katana's Story

Meet Katana

Katana is a stunning 7–8 year old Cane Corso with a heart as big as her presence. After spending much of her life as a backyard breeding dog—having raised at least 4–5 litters of puppies—she finally found safety at the sanctuary over a year ago. Since then, she’s become deeply loved, especially by the founder, Lee Asher, who knows her intimately and holds her very close to his heart.

Katana truly embodies the best of what a dog can be. She is extraordinarily loving, gentle, and calm, with a deep desire to connect. Her favorite place is right next to her person—she is an A+ cuddle buddy and would happily spend the day snuggled up with you. That said, don’t let her
senior status fool you—Katana still loves adventure. She enjoys long walks, hiking, and getting outside, and she regularly joins the pack walks at the sanctuary.

She does well with both big and small dogs and generally gets along beautifully in group settings. However, she does have a clear preference—Katana does not vibe with Boxers (we’re not sure why, but she’s consistent about it). She is a Cane Corso through and through: deeply loyal, bonded to her people, and naturally protective. Because of this, she should always be leashed on walks, hikes, or beach outings.
While she has never bitten or attacked a person or dog, her protectiveness is something potential adopters should fully understand and respect.

Katana has also endured hardship. We believe she may have been abused in her past and possibly used as a bait dog—her body carries scars and patches of gray fur grown in over old wounds. Yet remarkably, she does not live in her past. She is resilient, present, and full of love. Her strength
is quiet, and her sweetness is profound.

She is:

• Kennel trained & potty trained

• Familiar with basic commands

• Calm, affectionate, and emotionally intuitive

• A true “dream dog” for the right home

Because of her size, breed traits, and mild prey drive, no cats are recommended. We also recommend no children, her adopter should have significant Cane Corso or guardian breed experience and understands the responsibility involved.

Katana is entering a stage of life where she deserves peace. She’s ready to lay down her job of protecting and simply be—to give and receive love without pressure or duty. She’s looking for a
committed, experienced, and present person or family who will honor her breed, cherish her softness, and give her the safety she’s always deserved.

If you’re looking for a soulmate with depth, loyalty, and a heart of gold, Katana might just be yours—and you might be hers.

Apply to meet Katana today.

I weigh 116 pounds and my adoption fee is $240, it includes registration of my microchip, a sample of my food, new leash/collar and toy & treat packet. I am spayed and vaccinated.
