Kasey's Story

It's been about two weeks that Kasey has been in his foster home. He seems to be settling in nicely and learning the ropes of the household. Kasey loves the company of his foster brothers and sister and will take any opportunity for a good romp around in the yard. He shows absolutely no aggression toward people or other dogs big or small, but because of his limited exposure to other dogs he can initiate play inappropriately and be a bit rude. His foster brothers and sister are working on that. We have started on basic commands such as good boy, come and no. He has a very short attention span so training time has been limited, although lately we've had better success with training and I think that's because he is getting use to us. Kasey did not come to us crate trained, we use the crate when we are not home and he is a bit reluctant to go in the crate even with his stuffed yogurt and peanut butter Kong. He will cry very loud at first when put in his crate but does settle down after about 10 minutes. He is still a puppy, so expect all the joys of puppy hood. Kasey has had very little guidance and will need a forever home that has a huge amount of patience and 100% committed to showing this guy the ropes. Kasey is very smart and in tune to his surroundings, but will not be a well behaved dog without strong pack leadership that is able to give him exercise, discipline and affection in the order. Once this cutey learns boundaries he will make a wonderful companion!

When I met Kasey he greeted me with kisses and wanted to be my friend immediately. Because NJBR’s foster homes are full, poor Kasey’s temporary home is a kennel, but at least he is safe and no longer wandering the streets. The family that found Kasey kept him safe for about 1 week and believes he may be house broken. Kasey has never been taught sign language (hand signals) so he needs a foster or forever home that is willing to provide obedience training that is tailored to a deaf dog. Kasey has been neutered and brought up to date on his vaccinations. Because Kasey is deaf we would like to place him in a home with a hearing dog, so he can follow their lead. If your a committed home willing to train and show this guy all the fun things this world has to offer, read our adoption process, policies, complete an application for adoption and email his contact person.
