Meet Kanga

Kanga is 3 years old, 37 lbs.
Kanga loves humans. Male, female, tall, short, big, or small. She has interacted and done will with 5 year old children. She loves humans best and can be somewhat possessive at first. It will take Kanga some time to settle in with other dogs, however, though she’s slightly insecure of her place, she will bond with other dogs and begin to play with them.

Kanga is potty trained, though it is best to take her out frequently rather than wait for her to tell you she needs to go out.

Kanga is food motivated, but treats must be extra tasty if being used on a walk. Kanga would love to protect any yard or garden from all squirrels, rabbits, birds, or any other creatures that scurry.

While Kanga loves to go on walks, she is aggressive toward vehicles. However, with some work she’s getting better with this. She is also always in a big hurry and will pull hard, so she will need someone willing and able to work with her on her leash skills and to not charge at vehicles driving by while on walks. While she charges at vehicles on walks she has not done this in a yard behind a fence.

Kanga is a people dog, and is happiest to just be around her humans all day. She fancies herself somewhat of a lapdog. She is the best snuggler, day or night , and loves to lay in the crook of the legs while sleeping in bed at night. Kanga also enjoys taking little naps in the sun.

She has begun to show interest in toys, will chew on a bone, but hasn’t exhibited any destructive tendencies. She has done well in a crate, however, she really doesn’t like them and will carry on for some time once she’s in them. She would likely do best to free roam.

She is active and a good jumper and would do well working through agility courses. She can catch treats!

She’s so smart and while she’s slightly hound stubborn she picks up on things very quickly. She does like to herd and be put to work. Kanga will make some family so very happy and if the fosters didn’t have 2 dogs of their own this would be a foster fail.

Kanga has been spayed and microchipped.

Lastly, Kanga has a whip of a tail and has caused trauma to the tip of her tail by wagging it so fiercely into hard and sharp surfaces. While the fosters are treating it as best they can this will likely be an ongoing issue and may require medical care down the road.
