Kam 's Story

Kam is a friendly young dog who had a difficult start in life and is now learning what it means to live in a home. He enjoys people, loves other dogs, and does best with adopters who can offer a steady routine, daily exercise, and patience as he continues to build confidence.

Age: ~1 year
Sex: Male (neutered)
Weight: 22.8 kg (50 lbs)
Energy Level: 3/5 (moderate)
Photos/Videos: [https://photos.app.goo.gl/Thzq8pKUQivGmbYXA]
Foster Instagram: @takeout._.ggami

Adoption & Travel

Once a suitable family is approved through our vetting process, Kam can travel to the U.S. through our flight-volunteer program with all required veterinary care and documentation completed. A concerned neighbor intervened, recognizing that Kam was a social, people-oriented dog who deserved a safer and more stable life. Since entering foster care, Kam has shown a gentle interest in people and a strong enjoyment of social interaction, especially with other dogs.

Personality & Social Behavior

Kam is generally friendly and curious. He often approaches new people to sniff and will accept petting once he feels comfortable. While he is open with people, unfamiliar environments can be more challenging for him at first, and he benefits from gradual exposure and routine.

With People
• Approaches calmly and warms up quickly
• Enjoys attention and treats
• Food-motivated and responsive
• Prefers affection without being picked up

With Men
• Friendly but may be cautious initially, especially with older men
• Limited past experience with male handling
• Becomes comfortable with repeated exposure and treats

With Children
• No aggression observed
• Sensitive to loud noises, sudden movements, and scooters
• Best suited for a calm home with older, respectful children

With Dogs
Kam is very comfortable around other dogs and seems to gain confidence from them.
• Does well with medium and large dogs
• Enjoys running and playing with balanced, social dogs
• Respects boundaries when another dog shows discomfort
• Can interact with small dogs but does best with confident, friendly ones

With Cats
• Shows little interest in calm indoor cats
• May try to chase outdoor or running cats
• A cat-free home or experienced cat-dog household is recommended

Health & Care Notes

Kam is generally healthy, with a few care considerations noted by his foster:

• Sensitive digestion; some foods caused loose stools
• Currently doing well on Hill’s w/d
• Airway sensitivity noted in the fall; monitoring is recommended during illness
• Dental care is ongoing using dental chews with toothpaste
• No skin allergy symptoms observed
Preventatives: NexGard Spectra (7th day of each month; to be continued year-round)
Favorite treat: boiled sweet potato

Home Life
• Comfortable being alone; no separation anxiety observed
• Generally quiet indoors; may whine lightly before walks or meals
• Rests on a dog cushion in the living area
• Enjoys predictable routines and recognizes regular walk times

Exercise & Daily Routine
Kam benefits from regular physical activity and social time with other dogs. After appropriate exercise, he settles well indoors.

Typical daily activity include:

• Morning walk (~40 minutes)
• Midday potty walk (~20 minutes)
• Evening play or dog park time (~1–1.5 hours)
• Short night walk

Homes that can provide regular daily exercise and occasional off-leash play in secure areas will be the best fit.

Training & Behavior Notes
Kam is still learning and does best with calm, consistent guidance.

• Potty training: 100% outdoor
• Leash walking: generally good, but may pull when excited or in new areas
• Startles at wheeled objects (carts, scooters, vehicles) but does not bolt
• Requires a secure harness and standard leash (no retractable leashes)
• Not crate trained; appears more comfortable with open resting spaces
• Early mouthing behaviors have improved significantly with guidance

Ideal Home
Kam would do best in a home that:

• Follows a predictable daily routine
• Enjoys regular walks and outdoor time
• Can offer patience as he adjusts to new environments
• Provides dog-to-dog interaction or regular social opportunities
• Understands that confidence-building takes time

May not be the best fit for:

• Low-activity households
• Homes with frequent loud noise
• Households with many resident dogs where personal space is limited

Kam is a social, thoughtful young dog who is still learning about the world. With steady routines, gentle guidance, and regular exercise, he continues to make progress. We are looking for a family who can appreciate him as he is today and support him as he grows into a more confident companion.
