Kahuna's Story

*As a NorthCountry Star, Kahuna's care at HSCC is sponsored by our animal-loving friends at NorthCountry Federal Credit Union for the month of July, and his adoption includes a gift bag + $50 gift certificate to the HSCC Shelter Shop. Thank you, NorthCountry Federal Credit Union!*

Meet Kahuna!

Kahuna came into the care of HSCC through a local animal control partner after his guardian was no longer able to care for him. Staff and volunteers have quickly fallen in love with this block-headed beauty!

In Hawaiian, "kahuna" means an expert or a skilled practitioner. This brindle boy definitely lives up to his name - his prowess lies in living life to its fullest! Kahuna is a professional at swimming in kiddie pools (he even holds his breath and dunks his head in), fetching tennis balls, and giving the best snuggles you could ask for. He doesn't always understand how big he is, but you can count on him to approach life with some vim and vigor, and a can-do attitude. Kahuna is a friend of all, and would love to find a family happy to take him out and about to explore the wide wonderful world, and to enthusiastically accept his cuddles at the end of a long day.

At around two years old, Kahuna is maturing into a fine young gentleman. An ideal home for him would be one that is just as active as he is, and is willing to spend long hours out hitting the trails and exploring. He also will thrive in a home committed to giving him the structure his growing brain needs, with adopters who are able to help him rest and relax, just as much as get him running around.

Kahuna has so much love for the world, and it is a gift to be on the receiving end. He is ready to find his next home, committed to adoring him the way he deserves!

Dogs: Kahuna is dog social! We are happy to arrange a dog introduction at HSCC if you have a resident canine looking for a friend.

Cats: Kahuna's history with cats is unknown.

Children: Kahuna's history with children is unknown. Due to his size and energy level, he may be a good fit for older children and teenagers.

Ready to adopt your new best friend?
Submit an adoption application today! You'll receive an email with all the next steps. At HSCC, dog adoptions are by appointment, and we'll schedule your counseling session promptly to help you find the pawfect canine companion!
