Kady fka Kala

Kady fka as Kala (she came into rescue as Kala but didn't respond to the name, so her fosters have been calling her Kady) is a Golden Retriever/Heeler mix that is about 5 months old. She is here in Maine, in foster, and her foster says: "She is super smart and becoming very snuggly! Kala is crate and potty trained and lets us know when she needs to go outside, though she is still learning new routines like any puppy. She is extremely intelligent, enjoys training, and knows sit and shake (high five), is learning stay, and responds well to “leave it,” especially during meal time training. Kala is a medium to high energy pup and currently goes to daycare every week day, which she absolutely loves, and regular playtime has been key to helping her burn off energy, so she will do best in a home where consistent exercise is part of her routine. She loves other dogs and has truly thrived in a home with a calm, mature dog to help guide her, though she could do fine as an only dog with the right structure. She has not been around cats but has not shown aggression toward other animals. Because of her energy level and occasional puppy nibbling as she finishes teething, we do not recommend her for a home with younger children. Her early weeks when first arriving to Maine included typical puppy behaviors like jumping, counter surfing, and heavy teething, but she has made great progress and continues to settle well into home life.
