Juniper's Story

Both Juniper and Zelda seem to have angels looking after them. One of those angels was here on earth to witness both dogs being dumped from a truck on a busy highway in Rocky Mount, NC.

Kellie, a rescue volunteer with the Rocky Mount Animal Control shelter, actually captured on video the moment the dogs were removed from the truck and abandoned beside the road. After the man drove away, both dogs ran after the truck in confusion and desperation. Thankfully, Kellie was able to coax them safely into her vehicle and bring them to the shelter.

Unfortunately, the shelter filled up quickly, and Juniper and Zelda were once again in danger of losing their lives due to lack of space. We were able to get them to safety, and they are now waiting for foster or forever homes.

Juniper is a sweet and friendly girl who gets along well with other dogs. She weighs about 40 pounds, is approximately two years old, and though her breed may be a mystery, her personality is 100% adorable! She's a little more timid than her cohort Zelda but is still very playful and endearing once she knows she's in a safe place. She has a charming presence and is very gentle when interacting with humans.

If you are interested in fostering or adopting Juniper, please email adoptionsecondchance@gmail.com or call or text Ann at 757-630-6181.

Second Chance Habitat's Adoption Policy
Our goal is to match each of our rescue dogs with a safe, loving, and permanent home. To ensure the best fit for both the dog and the adopter, we require a completed adoption application, three personal references (including your current veterinarian), and a home visit, either virtual or in person. If you do not have any pets, then the request for a vet reference does not apply. As a 100% volunteer-run organization, we put our hearts into every adoption. For more information about our adoption process, please visit www.secondchancehabitat.org/adoptions Thank you for choosing to rescue and save a life!
