Junia's Story

There’s a certain kind of heartbreak we see at the shelter. The dog who stays loyal to a past that didn’t deserve her.<br/>Junia was confiscated for cruelty. And still outside, she pulls toward the fence, searching for someone familiar.<br/>She has her moments. Little flashes of joy where she just plays. Then she drifts back to the fence… looking out.<br/>We know she’ll move forward.<br/>But that kind of devotion tells you everything about her.<br/>Gentle. Curious. Very sweet.<br/>Junia is still holding on.<br/>She deserves someone good to spend her days with.<br/><br/>Chicago Animal Care and Control is located at 2741 S. Western Ave., Chicago, IL, and is open from 12pm to 7pm daily. Walk-in visitors are welcome and helped on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are planning to adopt the day you visit, please plan to arrive before 5:30pm. Visitors arriving after 5:30pm will still be able to view animals in Pavilions A-B-C until 7pm.<br/><br/>All dogs will be spayed/neutered and vaccinated before adoption.<br/><br/>All household members should be present to meet dogs (especially those under 18 and any decision-makers).<br/><br/>We recommend and can arrange dog-to-dog meet and greets for your current dog(s) to meet a potential dog sibling at the shelter. You will need to show proof of up-to-date rabies vaccination for your dog(s).
