Juneau's Story
Having existed with humans for eons, Carolina Dogs, also known as Native American Indian Dogs, are valued by their adopters for the strong bond formed with their human(s) as well as their quiet primitive nature. They seldom bark. However, if pressed once in a bonded home, they will alert bark. They thrive with canina sociability, often doing best when there are other dogs in the household. They are great companions for those active in the out of doors. They enjoy toys and play. Once fully comfortably acclimated and secure in a home there is an innate confidence that comes from those eons of independent/dependent coexistence with humans. Just a hint of intrigue.

Juneau will be best with someone who is truly tuned into the canine psyche so she can build trust. These dogs came from breeders, some of them were transferred between two different troubled breeders (Juneau is one), so at 5 years of age, she was subject to some tough conditions for a number of years. She has all of the Carolina Dog characteristic resilience that will allow her to thrive, relax and further blossom as a great companion animal if supported in doing so. She most likely will do best if there are other dogs in the household.

It is expected that the house training of these dogs will need to be re-visited with structure as they settle into a household routine.

The video with this posting is Juneau out in the play yard with her buddy Little Bit. Juneau has the darker coat.
