June's Story

This beautiful GSP girl is equal parts brains, beauty, and enthusiasm. June is the kind of dog who wants to truly be involved in whatever her people are doing. She's curious, observant, and deeply people-oriented, with that classic German Shorthaired Pointer combination of athleticism, sensitivity, and drive.

June loves connection just as much as she loves activity. She enjoys affection, thrives on engagement, and lights up when she's given opportunities to learn, explore, or work her brain. She's still very much a young dog, which means she's learning about the world one exciting experience at a time and discovering just how fun it is to have a human partner to share life with.

HISTORY
June was surrendered due to sudden medical issues involving a child in the family. It was an incredibly difficult decision made out of love and necessity, and it is clear she was cared for deeply before entering HART's care.

June is located in Kennewick, in Eastern Washington. We share information about our dogs in postings based in other cities to improve their chances of finding a great forever home. She is absolutely worth the road trip, and we encourage potential adopters to come meet her before deciding she should join their family!

SOCIALIZATION, TEMPERAMENT AND TRAINING
June is currently fostered with other dogs and has done wonderfully socially. She enjoys having canine companionship and would likely love an active dog friend who enjoys play and interaction as much as she does. She is also friendly with people and children and genuinely enjoys being included in daily life with her humans.

As a young German Shorthaired Pointer, June has energy to spare and a brain that wants to stay busy. She is not just looking for exercise - she is looking for engagement. Training sessions, enrichment activities, outdoor adventures, scent games, structured play, and continued learning will all help this girl thrive. She is eager to connect, eager to learn, and incredibly rewarding to work with.

June is crate comfortable and has good house manners. She is also making steady progress around cats and improves more every week with consistency and guidance. We believe she has the potential to make an excellent bird dog or sporting companion with the right training and handler.

June was born in March 2025, which means she is currently in the wonderfully goofy adolescent stage where confidence, curiosity, and selective listening skills all tend to show up at the same time. She may occasionally get distracted by exciting smells, moving leaves, or the possibility of adventure around every corner - all very normal for a young working breed dog. With consistency, structure, patience, and continued positive training, she is going to mature into an incredible adult companion.

HEALTH STATUS
General info
June is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, sterilized, and dewormed. She appears to be in good health.

ADOPTION
The adoption fee for June is $400.
To apply to adopt June, please complete our online adoption application at https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HAWA/Dog, or email hearthfireART@gmail.com and request an adoption application form.

HART dogs live in foster homes, not in a kennel facility. To respect our fosters' privacy, we make our dogs available to meet adopters only after an adoption has been approved.

HART (Hearthfire Animal Rescue Team)'s Adoption Policy
All our pets are in private foster homes. HART does not have a facility. For this reason, we introduce pets to potential adopters only after the adoption application has been approved. Our process involves: # A detailed application form, which must be submitted electronically # An online background check # Reference checks (calls to your vet, landlord, and at least two personal references) # Interviews with all the adults in the home (and, if the pet is intended primarily as a child's companion, we talk with the child) # A home visit, conducted at our discretion by a member of HART or a trusted rescue colleague Most of our pets are located in the Tri-Cities (Kennewick/Richland/Pasco) in Eastern Washington, and we place pets only in homes within the Pacific Northwest. As needed we may arrange for a trusted member of our team to transport a pet to an adopter, at the adopter's expense. We do not ever release pets to a third party for transportation; we personally introduce every pet to their adopter. HART is a registered 501(c)3 charity. We depend on adoption fees and donations to continue serving our community. We do not have an office or facility, and our team is made up only of volunteers. Our entire income goes to helping animals.
