JOYCE-JJ (JULIAN CALIFORNIA)'s Story

We ask you to read the full bio first. Please if interested go to www.JCLDR.com also and fill out our application. No one is obligated to adopt by doing so nor are obligated but we screen your app and then call to get acquainted and answer more questions.

This is one nice middle aged cult companion dog who has had care and lots of training.

STATS, OVERVIEW: Joyce is a 7 year old purebred catahoula spayed female, born in Aug 2019. She weighs approximately 45 pounds is up to date on all vaccinations, has not been officially crate trained but would be easy as she is very pliable, smart and more than willing to please.. over anxious to please. She rides in vehicles, she is willing and ready to go. At the veterinarians she is aiming to please. She is ok with owner doing or vet doing her toenail trim. She is very cooperative. She lies upside like a pineapple cake and says.. get her done. Rub my tummy .. she loves tummy rubs. She loves people and wants to be near and cuddling. She is not wary at all of strangers. She hasn’t been around kids but owner believes she would do well with them. Maybe children ages 8 and up that are dog respectful would be the best. Owner can see her playing with a kid all day long. With people she welcomes them to her home but dogs she alerts her owner and protects her yard. She does have hunting prey drive so no cats. Owner thinks small dogs that are not highly confrontational she would accept in time if done slowly and properly. She is not a toy motivated dog. She is not destructive in any way with toys or bedding. She is totally housebroken and does spend time in the home with her owner but she loves her yard time too. She is a companion to a male catahoula and Irish wolf hound that is old and fading and so she would need a dog friend in her world. Most animals.. kind needs kind. She is a dog that does dig a cool soft spot in shade and loves to get as dirty as possible. Keep a towel and a bucket of water handy to just wipe off the surface of her hide and she likes a hard scrub but no baths regularly because it does strip the fur of their oils and can cause skin problems. We don’t recommend it and she is very healthy and in good condition. She just had had dental care and ready to go. 7 years old is NOT a senior especially with her size and weight. She is a leash puller like most Catahoulas so owner uses a harness on her. The owner plans to work on her with a martingale as well. She a very versatile dog. She is a vocal dog sort of but not excessive all day barkers. She alerts when needed she talks to you, full ofmpersonality. She is fed twice a day on a good kibble and is not territorial about her food.

HISTORY: She was acquired by her owner at 8 weeks old. She came from some breeder that had a litter. More of a back yard breeder. In a new situation she might be unsure and need a slow patient intro period for she has been part of her owner’s life all of her life. The reason for rehoming her, is that the owner has to make life changes and the home has too many cats and she can’t go.

GOOD: She is over sweet but she is a very nice girl and someone will really enjoy her if they give her a chance. She will do well as a single person dog as well as well as having a dog pack but she could use more one on one than she gets now.

BAD: Twice she had an upset tummy and she gives no warning it just empties right in front of herself.. but this is not chronic. She is scared of lightening and thunder, it scares her to death and she feels a storm before you do. She goes in near her owner and hides cuddled up safe with her person.. she does not panic or run, but needs comfort.

UGLY: Only cat aggression is ugly. Game is on and she means business.
