Joy's Story

Little Joy was born on December 18th. We pulled her mom, Fran, out of a local overcrowded shelter. Fran needed a hernia repaired as well as needing to be spayed, so we brought her in for surgery. The vet called us to let us know that Fran was pregnant, with what appeared to be two puppies! We picked her up and brought her back to the sanctuary and waited for the special delivery. Fran had two baby girls but sadly only "Joy" survived. Little Joy is quite the chunk at the moment but is growing and changing every day. We guessed mom to possibly be a rat terrier and since we got her from a shelter, we have no idea what dad is. Because of that, we don't know what size little Joy will grow up to be.
