Journey's Story

Intake Date: 24 July 2026 ----- Age at Intake: 2 yrs ----- Breed: Pug ----- Size: 20 lbs ----- Status: Owner Surrender ----- Compatible with: dogs, cats, respectful children ----- Suitable for: home committed to structure, consistency, and continued training. Fenced yard ----- Medical/Behavioral Needs: Learning appropriate self-regulation and calm behaviors ----- Additional Notes:
Meet Journey!
Journey is proof that sometimes the "problem dog" simply hasn't been shown how to slow down.
This adorable 2-year-old Pug came to rescue after his previous owner struggled with excessive barking and nuisance behaviors. It didn't take long for us to understand exactly what they meant. Although they loved Journey, he was leading to a potential neighborly dispute. Journey had absolutely no idea how to self-regulate. He would spin circles around himself (even on walks!), bark just to hear himself, and treated the furniture and walls like his own personal trampoline park. His brain, and bark, were always running at full speed.

The good news?

Journey has absolutely blossomed in foster care already!
With clear expectations, consistent rules, and reinforcement, he's learning that calm behavior gets noticed and rewarded. Instead of constantly searching for the next exciting thing, he's beginning to relax, think through situations, and settle into a routine. It's been incredibly rewarding to watch him discover that life doesn't always have to be lived at 100 miles an hour.

Journey is doing fantastic with the dogs and cats in his foster home. Like any dog, he thrives when everyone understands the rules and boundaries. Structure has been the key to his success, and his future family should be committed to continuing that consistency.
Don't mistake that for a boring dog, though.
Journey is goofy, hilarious, affectionate, and always finds a way to make people laugh. He has a zest for life that's contagious, and he's going to make one lucky family an incredibly fun best friend.

Why you'll love Journey:

Hilarious, entertaining personality
Doing wonderful with dogs and cats
Thriving with structure and routine
Smart and eager to learn
Loves being part of whatever you're doing
Equal parts goofy and affectionate
Ready to become someone's loyal best friend

Journey wasn't born knowing how to regulate his excitement, but he's proving every day that with guidance, patience, and consistency, he can absolutely succeed. He's looking for a family that will continue showing him the way, and in return, he'll provide endless laughs, unconditional love, and companionship for years to come.

------------------------------------------

If interested in meeting and potentially adopting, please read the adoption requirements and complete the adoption application located at **forbellessake.org**. Once processed and approved, a meet and greet can be scheduled and, if a match, an adoption can be finalized at that time. FBS standard adoption fee is **$175**. All residents are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and treated for any known medical needs. Breeds are best guess. Housetraining is not guaranteed, but crate training is worked on with all residents. A secure physically fenced yard is prioritized if a yard is present. Temperament cannot be and is not guaranteed.
