Originally from Mississippi, Josie lovingly raised her four S'More puppies here in New England, and now it's finally her turn to find a family of her own.

Josie is an affectionate, people-oriented dog who loves being close to her humans. Whether she's cuddling on the couch, tossing her stuffed toys around the house, playing fetch, or investigating every interesting scent in the yard, she's happiest when she's part of the action. She's also highly food motivated, eager to learn, and enjoys positive reinforcement training.

Now that she's finished raising her puppies, Josie is adjusting to life as "just Josie." She's a smart, energetic dog who thrives with structure, enrichment, and opportunities to build new skills. She's currently working on loose-leash walking, learning to calmly navigate seeing other dogs and people on walks, and becoming more comfortable spending short periods of time alone.

Because of her playful, enthusiastic personality, Josie would do best with an active family that's excited to continue her positive reinforcement training and provide plenty of enrichment and play. She may be happiest as the only dog or with a younger, playful canine companion after thoughtful introductions, and she isn't the best match for older or physically fragile dogs. Due to her exuberance, a home with older children or teens may be the best fit.

Life's a little sweeter with Josie by your side. If you're looking for a fun, affectionate companion and are excited to help a smart dog continue building her confidence and skills, Josie just might be your perfect match!”

All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

To adopt or learn more about Josie Momma Smore, you must fill out an adoption application. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.

Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
