Jorgia looks like someone tucked a very kind soul into a soft black-and-white fur coat, added four little white socks, and gave her eyebrows capable of asking, “Did you have a hard day, sweetheart?” At 2.5 years old and 55 pounds, she is a female Great Pyrenees mix—or perhaps a beloved storybook character who wandered off the page because she heard someone nearby might need a friend. Jorgia is sweet, happy, curious, affectionate, adaptable, and eager to be included. She has the personality of a friendly neighbor who noticed you carrying groceries and is already halfway across the yard to help, except Jorgia’s version of helping will probably involve sniffing every bag and standing directly where you need to walk. With no herd left to watch and less time available for her, Jorgia became bored and lonely. Her family knew she deserved more companionship, training, and involvement than they could give her, so this sweet girl came to us in search of a new place to belong. Jorgia’s foster describes her as a dog who seems genuinely delighted to discover that life contains things. Walks? We have those?! Car rides? You’re saying the house can move?! Air-conditioning? Apparently humanity has been hiding its finest achievement from her this entire time. So many ordinary experiences are brand-new to Jorgia, and she greets each one like a Victorian child seeing electricity for the first time. You can practically watch the little lightbulb appear over her beautifully concerned eyebrows: “Wait...we’re allowed to enjoy this?”<br/><br/>People are Jorgia’s favorite discovery so far. She loves meeting new humans and warms up quickly, because if you have arrived anywhere within her general vicinity, she is reasonably certain you came specifically to admire her. Please do not embarrass yourself by suggesting otherwise. She has been wonderful with the teenagers in her foster home and is especially fond of the 17-year-old, whose room she has apparently identified as an excellent place to conduct important hanging-out business. Her foster believes her loving, gentle nature would also make her a wonderful companion for younger children. With other dogs, Jorgia prefers to complete a brief background check before approving them for friendship. She may spend the first few days observing, settling in, and determining whether the new canine has acceptable vibes, good references, and a history of respecting personal space. Once the review process is complete, however, she is all in—playing, interacting, and happily joining the group. She currently lives with multiple dogs and does wonderfully with them, so she is not antisocial; she simply does not hand out Best Friend bracelets in the parking lot. Cats receive a much shorter application process. Jorgia likes to give them one thorough introductory sniff, presumably to verify that they are, in fact, cats. Once this investigation is complete, she loses interest and allows them to return to their regularly scheduled program of silent judgment.<br/><br/>Jorgia has a perfectly reasonable energy level of about 5 out of 10. She is not training for an ultramarathon, nor has she fused permanently to the couch like an old piece of chewing gum. She enjoys activity and is quickly developing a fondness for going places, but she also deeply appreciates returning home afterward to relax with her people in the air-conditioning. She is an adventure seeker with the soul of a woman who booked the excursion primarily because the hotel advertised excellent climate control. Her first leash walk was a particularly important moment. Initially, Jorgia appeared confused by the entire arrangement. Why was she attached to a human? Was this a team-building exercise? Had either party received proper training? Then the realization arrived: wearing the leash meant she could simply leave the property and go investigate the world. Since that revelation, she has walked beautifully, happily sniffing, exploring, and taking in the scenery like a small-town tourist who has just discovered outlet malls. She is equally agreeable about car rides. Jorgia may need a little guidance to understand that you would like her to get into the vehicle, but once the request has been clarified, she happily climbs aboard and assumes her official position as Certified Passenger Princess. She rides beautifully and is perfectly content to let her human handle navigation, traffic, and all other tedious administrative matters. Jorgia provides morale. Toys, fetch, and water have not impressed her. Humanity apparently invented air-conditioning, automobiles, couches, and neighborhood walks, yet somehow expected her to become excited about a soggy tennis ball. Jorgia has reviewed the available recreational options and chosen experiences over objects. She would rather go somewhere with you, see something new, and then come home to lounge in refrigerated comfort. <br/><br/>Back at home, her résumé becomes almost suspiciously impressive. Jorgia is potty trained, knows “sit,” does well in a kennel, rarely—if ever—barks, doesn’t chew inappropriate things, has shown no resource guarding, and apparently skipped the entire unit on mischief. She also has no known fears, dramatic overreactions, or escape-artist ambitions. Basically, while other dogs are launching themselves over fences and filing formal complaints about the vacuum cleaner, Jorgia is indoors wearing her little socks and wondering when everyone plans to sit down together. She sleeps peacefully in her crate in the sunroom near the other foster dogs and stays there when her foster family is away. She is also willing to get on the couch, because Jorgia may be new to indoor family life, but she is not foolish. One does not discover upholstered furniture and then voluntarily return to the floor.<br/><br/>Her ideal home is less about the building and more about the people inside it. A fenced yard would be lovely, but she could also do well in an apartment or a home without one as long as she receives regular walks. She can live happily with dogs when given a few patient days to settle in, does well with cats, loves people, and would likely enjoy having children to adore. Jorgia is wonderfully adaptable and seems ready to embrace whichever version of family life is offered—as long as she is not expected to admire it from a distance. More than anything, Jorgia wants to be included. She spent her earlier life watching over livestock from outside, and now she is discovering that dogs can ride in cars, sleep in cool rooms, sit on couches, explore neighborhoods, and simply exist beside the people they love. Every new experience seems to bring that same sweet little expression: “Oh! I get to do this too?”<br/><br/>If you’re looking for a gentle, joyful girl who loves people, walks beautifully on a leash, rides like a professional Passenger Princess, respects cats, can happily join a dog family after a proper introduction, and considers central air one of civilization’s greatest achievements, Jorgia may be your girl.
