Johnny is such a handsome standard doxie boy! He is a red longhair with black overlay and a rare find but not for everyone! Johnny needs a very experienced doxie savvy adopter with their own single family home with a large fenced yard (no electric/invisible fences or pools or doggie doors) that is 100% secure and dig-proof, a young energetic playful doxie (of their own) his size (no large dogs) in the home who likes to wrestle, no cats or furry animals, no children and someone who doesn't care that he digs and barks! Johnny is a huge excavator who loves to dig holes, destroy grass and pull up tree roots (all the while squealing LOUDLY)) . He also chews branches off bushes. He will also kill (and eat) small animals that get into your yard. Johnny is the quintessential dachshund. If you love and understand the breed, he will make your heart happy BUT if you want to "fix" him, he's not the right dog for you. Johnny is such a sweet lovely dog but he is more doxie than most dachshunds I've fostered or placed! He is crate-trained but needs a home where he won't be crated much because of his high energy. He will have accidents in the house. Not really leash-trained because he pulls so much. Only looking for someone who meets all the requirements for adopting him and lives locally so we can do a personal home visit. He is not for an apartment, townhouse or condo because of his barking. *** This dog is being fostered in Maryland. All things considered, local adopters will be given preference. Applicants must be willing to drive to Ellicott City, Maryland (10 miles south of Baltimore) to meet and adopt this dog.***. Want to know more about Johnny?
