Joe's Story

Joe is a neutered, vaccinated, 39-pound, approximately 3.5 year old Treeing Walker Coonhound/Mountain Cur/Rat Terrier mix. Joe is very loving with his people, but does have a bite history with strangers.

Joe is currently with Spirited K9 being rehabbed due to his bite history, which has usually involved resources or objects such as food and toys. Joe has come a very long way and is now ready for adoption. He needs an experienced owner who will take the time to build trust and understand him, respect his body language, and learn how to continue his training—just like the loyal group of volunteers who absolutely adore this good boy.

Joe is joyful, with soulful brown eyes that he’ll fix on you while wagging his tail. He cuddles, he’s playful, and he loves going on walks. He has his own fan club who love playing with him and taking him on long walks in the woods, where he can sniff to his heart’s content! He’s also happy to lie in the sun and chew on his stuffies after splashing around in the kiddie pool. Seriously, this boy loves sunbathing.

Joe understands basic commands, and has also been trained on an e-collar for off-leash freedom.

Joe will thrive in a home with a fenced yard or plenty of land where he has room to run. He needs to be the only dog in the home, with no cats or children.

If you are interested in adopting Joe, we will require potential adopters to visit him and receive training on how to safely and confidently handle him before he is cleared to go home. After he is adopted, Joe and his new family will have ongoing training support.

Joe is:

Very handsome and loving

Has formal training

House trained and crate trained

Up-to-date on vaccinations

Comes with ongoing support with a Certified Trainer

Interested in meeting this very good boy?
