Joanie's Story

Meet Joanie: A Playful, Affectionate Companion Looking for a Forever Home!

At 3 years old and 45lbs, Joanie became available at North Central shelter in February 2026 after being surrendered by her owner. During her time there, she quickly became a volunteer favorite. Joanie participated in the K9 Youth Alliance Program and showed off her friendly, social personality. She was playful and engaging in dog playgroups, often taking on “helper” and “greeter” roles, and she was consistently noted to be friendly with people. She left the shelter in March to be fostered with one of our own Dog Coalition LA team members.

Now in her foster home, Joanie is thriving and showing just how wonderful of a companion she is. She is house trained, walks nicely on leash, and is crate trained with no signs of separation anxiety. Joanie absolutely loves other dogs big or small and would enjoy having a playful companion. She can be a little shy when first meeting new people, but warms up quickly into a super affectionate and snuggly girl. If given the chance, she’d happily curl up as a lap dog. She also loves chewing on a good bone and has shown no signs of guarding.

We believe Joanie could do well in a variety of homes. She would thrive with another playful dog or as a cherished only dog in a home that can provide companionship and engagement. With her medium energy level, she’d enjoy a balance of playtime and relaxation. She would likely do well with kids given her gentle and social nature, with proper introductions.

What You Should Know About Joanie:

- Sweet 3-year-old, 45lb pup looking for a loving forever family to cuddle and play with
- Friendly, playful, and affectionate with both dogs and people, with a soft and snuggly side
- Would be a great fit for someone looking for a social, medium-energy companion for both adventures and cozy time at home

To meet Joanie, please fill out an adoption form on dogcoalitionla.org/adopt and follow @dogcoaltionla and her foster @ffgandfriends for updates!
