JJ's Story

JJ is a black and tan lurcher, know also as a field trial greyhound. He is around 4 years old, we think, and weighs about 73 pounds. He is a tall boy, and very handsome, with brindle legs. You can really see the coonhound part of his lineage in his face and coloring! JJ is healthy, happy, and hopeful that he will find find a Home For The Holidays!

Because he previously lived outdoors, JJ is still afraid of the slick kennel floors. He is just learning them, and we anticipate he will adjust! Like Bo and Penny, JJ came to our organization because their owner was unable to continue to care for them, so he did the best thing and surrendered them so they could find a safe and warm forever home! We are excited to help JJ and his friends find their adopters!

* * * * *

Adopters must meet the following requirements:
- Live in Indiana (Western Ohio, Northern Kentucky, Eastern Illinois, or Nashville, TN may be eligible depending on location and volunteer availability to conduct a home visit)
- Primary applicant(s) at least 25 years old
- Live in a home (no dorms, apartments, etc. - sorry!)
- Fenced yard (no invisible fences)
- Willingness to keep dog on a leash whenever not in a fenced yard

We look forward to working with you to find your new best friend! Prison Greyhounds's Adoption Policy
Adopters must meet the following requirements: - Live in Indiana (Ohio, Kentucky, or Illinois may be eligible depending on location and volunteer availability to conduct a home visit) - Primary applicant(s) at least 25 years old - Live in a home (no dorms, apartments, etc.) - Fenced yard (no invisible fences) - Willingness to keep dog on a leash whenever not in a fenced yard Adopters must watch a short video explaining care of their new dog, as well as read the Prison Greyhounds adoption handbook. Next, an online application should be completed on our website. Our board will review your initial application, and if we believe you would be a good match for a greyhound or lurcher, we will reach out to request that you submit the $25 application fee. Please do not submit the application fee until it is requested, as we cannot refund this fee, and we do not want to disappoint anyone. After the application has been reviewed and fee paid, an adoption coordinator will reach out to conduct a phone call and review some basics of greyhound/lurcher care as well as answer any questions you may have. A home visit will be conducted, and we will work together with your family to determine if the dog you're interested in is the right fit for your household or if another dog might be best. After adoption, your adoption coordinator will check in with you to ensure your dog is acclimating to the change. If you have any challenges, we are happy to help provide advice!
