JJ's Story

Meet JJ

We couldn’t agree on just one “J” name for this little guy, so naturally, he got several.

Jimmy with his tiny sprinkle “jimmies” all over his adorable nose.

Jackson or “JJ” from one of our favorite Outer Banks characters which honestly feels pretty fitting.

Like his namesake, JJ is sweet, adventurous, loyal to his crew, occasionally a little wild, and underneath it all, a complete softie. He’ll get a sudden burst of puppy energy and then decide his next important mission is climbing into your lap for a serious snuggle session.

JJ absolutely loves his foster brothers and would be thrilled to have a canine sibling to play with and follow around. He’s potty trained, although he’s still a baby with a baby-sized bladder, so he still needs regular opportunities to go outside but he will patiently sit and wait by the door for you.

And then there’s mealtime.

JJ eats like someone told him another puppy is coming for his dinner. He eats VERY fast and apparently believes all meals are family-style. He has absolutely no food or bone aggression and is more than happy to share — sometimes whether the other dog asked him to or not. Because of that, any canine sibling should also be non-food-aggressive and tolerant of JJ’s “what’s yours is ours” philosophy.

He’s equal parts sweetheart, snuggle bug, playful sidekick, and lovable little troublemaker the kind of puppy who just wants to be wherever his people and his pack are.

If you’re looking for your own loyal little Pogue, JJ might just be your guy.

If you are interested in adopting there is an application below! This is the first step. We do not schedule meet and greets without an approved application.

https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/PDAR/Dog

98% of our adoptables come from out of state. There are higher fees associated as we have to pay to have the animals transported. We are a non-profit rescue. Any access revenue made is used to care for animals with additional medical expenditures that would otherwise result in adoptable dogs having to be left behind and euthanized.

The adoption fee for this dog is $600 which helps with the cost of routine vet care. This fee DOES NOT INCLUDE spay/neuter. You will be required to sign a contract legally obligating you to have the animal altered. A $100.00 will be returned to the adopter once the animal has been sterilized. We will need proof of sterilization from the vet in order to receive the $100.

Paws Deep Animal Rescue's Adoption Policy
The first step to adoption, once you have identified a pet you would like to adopt, is to fill out an adoption application. You can speed up the adoption process by calling your vet ahead of time to give us permission to speak to them in regards to your current and past pets. You will be contacted to schedule an interview and a meet and greet after the adoption contract is approved.. We will need proof of age with a form of ID. Once we have gotten approval that you are allowed to have pets where you live, your adoption application is approved, the pet is altered, and adoption payment is received, only then will the animal be released. Some pets may be able to go home the day after adoption contract is approved others it could be a week. If the animal is deemed too young to be altered we will have the adopter sign a spay and neuter contract. The animal will need to be neutered when it is 6 months old and we will need proof provided to us by a licensed veterinarian. Once there is proof provided, the rescue will reimburse $100 of the adoption fee. If there is more than one qualifying approved applicant that is a match then the applicant who first inquired will get the opportunity to meet the pet and decide if they want to adopt before it goes to the next person in line. Note: Some animals will require home inspections or a fenced yard. Applying for a dog does not mean automatic approval. We reserve the right to deny applications. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_j7Qyk269a7uzMcOh1Ffx3PU9femw7Xd3t-Nj8TOfBE/edit Follow us on TikTok: @pawsdeepanimalrescue
