Meet Jett

Jett is a solid black, graceful, happy, playful pup with beautiful kind eyes that reveal his sweet nature. He is a confident, assertive, and friendly dog who gives outstanding grippy hugs where he doesn't want to let go! Speak to his foster Mama and ask for his videos that show off his amazing recall. He is a bit of a velcro dog with his human and follows his foster mom everywhere with zest. He has so much enthusiasm and energy he could be used for most any sport! Jett also excels at receiving belly rubs and chilling out when needed. He is a considerate cuddle buddy who doesn't take up the entire bed and accepts whatever level of snuggles you have for him while seeking them all.

He is currently living with a foster family with a 2yo female husky and is still learning boundaries as a 1yo baby boy. They play great together but she does get annoyed at his age appropriate inability to understand boundaries. He definitely stands his ground with dogs but also does not aggressively provoke anything. He loves all dogs and people and will get vocal and pull when wanting to see other dogs on his walks. We are working on this but his excitement still gets the best of him sometimes. He is learning his leash manners and down as he figures out the rules that he needs invitation first. Jett loves to jump on people tho pretty gently - he is a hugger- and also jumps up on counters, couches, etc. Those are his hardest behaviors traits to train so far but with time and correction he will do well and only jump up when invited.

Mostly his training is pretty easy otherwise but at this time he needs a crate when unsupervised since he is still so young. He is crate-trained tho and eager to please. Equally food and toy motivated and very agile and quick.

His fur is beautiful tho and he is always shining. He barks a little when playing but is mainly a non barker tho he is getting a bit of a howl while at play as he matures. He can whine a bit in his crate but it won't last more than a few minutes upon entry or to legitimately alert his human he has to go out etc.

Jett is learning his commands fast including having to be invited in/onto beds, couches, rooms, invited to eat, etc., gentle when receiving treats, and long stays which he is picking up very quickly. Jett is a great car companion- only needing a simple correction and then he will stay in his seat head out the window smile on his face! He is young and does have puppy energy but with proper exercise he stays calm in the house. He loves playing fetch, tug of war, and can get a little aggressive with the flirt pole but nothing serious. He hardly humps and is corrected immediately. Neutered at about 10 months and UTD on all shots and preventatives.

In his first foster he lived on a property with kids, cats, chickens, and dogs in Georgia. He's very curious so he ran at the chickens at first, but soon enough he just looks on from afar. He does chase wildlife in the yard but not sure how much of it is about a prey drive or a play drive especially at his age.

Jett is a one year old, 53 pounds, medium sized slim build mystery mix breed and has a little more growing to do but not much. Our best guess is lab, hound, and some Bully.

He's a great family dog, companion for solo adventurer, or active couples and would do best with a family with another dog or planning on getting another or who plans to work him. He isn't aggressive but he needs supervision and a capable handler with small children until he understands boundaries. He would really love a big pack with dog(s), and/or kid(s) to run in a yard with ending his active days with champion level cuddling.

Jett is just a good soul who is sweet, well balanced, happy, and filled with love. His soulful brown eyes say it all! If you would like to adopt Jett please contact Peggy Stern at pmpstern@yahoo.com.
