Jethro's Story

Jethro is a dog who is very sweet but very shy. He simply has not had a lot of interaction with people. He was relinquished because he and the other dog (Wadi - brown bloodhound) had started to run off and were visiting neighbors. I can't imagine getting this type of dog and not having a fenced yard, but here we are.

Jethro was simply the second dog in his former situation. He did not get the training and attention that the other dog received. This is likely why he is a little shy. He is extraordinarily gentle. We are working on training and leash walking.

Jethro barks at horses and new dogs, but is not a shadow barker. (One that barks out of boredom) He barks when he is excited and seeing the horses is super exciting for him. Beside the horses going by twice a day, Jethro likes to hang out and sleep in the sun or in the dog bed most of the day.

Another highlight of his day is eating. He gets very excited but does not jump up or get too pushy.

Jethro needs a person who will spend time with him and adore him. He is bonded with his brother but he needs to bond with a human. He is selectively submissive with Wadi and needs to form his own relationship with his owner. He will always get along with other dogs, but I would advise being able to devote one-on-one time with Jethro initially. He needs to feel confident in his own skin and not look to Wadi for approval. He is a lovely dog in search of his person.

His fur is not typical for a bloodhound in that it is not super short. He actually has a bit of a wave. And he does not have an oily coat or an oily smell. His face almost looks like a Gorden Setter. This is a very nice dog.

If you are interested in Jethro, please email me and then fill out a pre-adoption form on our website. That way I know to look for the application. my email is eae niven @ icloud .com (no spaces) and the website is dogwoodfarmsanctuary.com.
