Jeter's Story
Jeter is Up For Adoption here at Shiba Rescue of New Jersey.
He is a 12 year old spry Sesame colored Shiba Boy who is neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped.
Here is foster Dad Scott's write up for Jeter:
Jeter is such a good boy. Weve learned so much about him in the 2 weeks he has been here.
Day One he had such sad eyes and was so apprehensive about everything. Now he hops around the house with his head held high and sometimes it looks like hes even smiling.
He seems to love and embrace his daily routine of walks and treats. He loves to sit in the window, lay on Barbs footrest, lay in the dog bed or just sprawl out on the floor. He leans in and wiggles when he gets petted, he likes when I rub his face and kiss him on the snoot!!
Jeter doesnt care if you grab the fluffs off him either. Weve been able to brush him, but he may get a bit agitated about it but hasnt shown any aggression in any form whatsoever.
Jeter is definitely interested in all food that is not his and has whined when he isnt given food. We have discovered we need to eat before he does if we have any chance of him eating any of his food. Once hes distracted by our eating he wont go back to his, but if he eats after were done and we put everything away he will do fine.
Jeter had no accidents in the house and he will let us know if he needs to go out and he can definitely tell time because he gets antsy. He is very talkative and if you ask him if hes hungry or needs to go potty he will answer you.
Jeter has free rein of the house and we dont have any issues when we have left him home alone and he gets excited when we come back and does his happy airplane ears. For the most part hes very quiet and hardly makes a sound.
When we go to bed we bring his dog bed into our room and he either lays in that or at our feet but doesnt disrupt us really at all the whole night.
I think he would be okay with older kids but I think his ideal home is one similar to ours with a happy couple that will just chill with him, take him for his walks and be willing to play endless fetch with him.
Jeter has certainly clung to Barb and seems more comfortable at first with women for sure but he doesnt have any issues with me at all. It just took a couple of extra days to settle in with me.
It would be great if Jeter had a spot where he can have a window to sit near or look out of. He just loves this.
Jeter loves to cuddle up at your feet and be with you.
I think he will certainly live out his best life!!
Jeter has a personality and like all Shibas can have a bit of an attitude but there is absolutely nothing wrong with this dog.
Hes very good on walks. He gets excited over bunnies, squirrels and birds. Some dogs he barks at and some he doesnt it. He randomly barks at cars and for some reason barks at anyone and everyone on a dang bicycle.
He doesnt want for much. He isnt super demanding at all, but if you give him what hes looking for hes truly one of the best dogs weve come across.
Here is foster Mom Barb's write up for Jeter:
Jeter is a good boy. He has been able to get on our daily schedule without any issues.
He loves to go for walks and is great on a leash. He does like to try to chase after birds, bunnies and squirrels. He will bark at the occasional dog, bike rider and runners.
Jeter also loves to run around the fenced in yard.
Jeter has no accidents in the house and will scratch on the door to let us know he has to go out.
Jeter loves to play with toys and will play fetch with you for a while.
If the toy is not close enough to you, he will pick it up and throw it again to make the toy easier to grab!
Jeter will lay around all day relaxing patiently waiting for his next walk.
Jeter loves to sit at the window and watch all the happenings outside.
Jeter will also lay down at your feet when he wants to be close to you.
Jeter is not a high maintenance dog and doesn't ask for much but if you give him what little he requires, you will have definitely earned yourself a loyal companion.
He is a true love bug!
If you are interested in adopting Jeter please go to www.shibarescuenj.org and fill out an Adoption Application.
Will you be willing to open your heart and home to Jeter?
I promise you that you will be getting a very special Shiba Boy.
You will not be disappointed.
He is such an Amazing Dog who will return your love tenfold.
