Jet's Story

Meet Jet! Jet is the kind of dog who asks for a little patience up front, but quietly shows you just how special he is once he feels safe. He's a sensitive, gentle soul who prefers a slow introduction and appreciates when people let him come to them on his own terms. A soft voice, calm presence, and a little space go a long way with this boy.

At first, Jet can be anxious and a bit hand-shy, especially with quick movements or unfamiliar situations. He doesn't enjoy feeling pressured, but when given time and respect, his sweet and curious side really starts to shine.

Out on walks, Jet has been making nice progress. He may still be figuring out leash life and can get a little unsure, but he enjoys being outside, taking in the world at his own pace, and putting his nose to good use, he's definitely a “stop and sniff everything” kind of guy. He's shown curiosity about his surroundings and can settle in to observe, especially when he feels safe.

Jet isn't much of a toy guy, he's much more about quiet companionship. Once he warms up, he'll stick close and soak up gentle attention. He can be sensitive to louder noises and unfamiliar surroundings, so a steady, low-key home will help him feel his best.

Jet may not be the “jump right in” type, but for someone willing to go slow and meet him where he's at, he's a deeply rewarding companion waiting to unfold.

Jet at a Glance:

Age: 1 year old
Personality: Sensitive, cautious, gentle, quietly affectionate, curious
Training: Still learning leash skills; benefits from slow handling and confidence-building; prefers being approached at his pace
Favorite Activities: Sniffing on walks, exploring calmly, observing his surroundings, soaking up gentle pets

SPCA of Southwest Michigan's Adoption Policy
We have same day adoptions! You are welcome to visit our shelter anytime during our open hours. When you visit, you can either look through the kennel first or go into a meet and greet room with an available animal of interest. In the meet and greet room, we will let you spend time with the animal and read off their file. If you have a dog at home, you can bring them along with you to do a dog-to-dog meet and greet. The main question we ask is if you own or rent your home. If you rent we check your pet policy. Bring your pet policy with you; as that is the quickest way for us to check. Once that clears, all you would need to do is fill out an adoption contract and pay their adoption fee. They would go home with you after that! If you are adopting a cat, you are welcome to bring your own carrier with you. We do have carriers to borrow or cardboard boxes to send home with you if you do not have one. If you are adopting a dog, you are welcome to bring your own leash and collar. We do have leashes and collars to send home with you as well. Holds We offer holds over the phone and in-person. The hold fee is $50 and is non-refundable. Holds over the phone are for 24 hours and holds in-person are for 48 hours.
