The day we met her was the day her family of four years surrendered her to the shelter because they were moving. She was sitting in her kennel, shaking, trying to make sense of everything that had just changed.

She came in with another dog (Jimmy), and that was clearly a source of comfort for her in a really overwhelming environment.

Right now, Jessica is in her decompression phase, which means we’re giving her the time and space to feel safe again before asking too much of her. We don’t know everything about her yet, and we won’t pretend to. What we do know is that she is incredibly sweet. Gentle, soft, and very clearly just wants to feel secure again.

She’s a small, petite little thing with a quiet presence and a really kind demeanor.

She previously lived in a home with children and was kenneled with another dog at the shelter, which suggests she may do well with both, but we’ll confirm

For now, this is her reset moment.
