Jazz's Story

JAZZ

Female, spayed

~5-1/2 years old

Pit Bull Terrier

60 lbs.

Microchipped, up-to-date on core vaccines and takes monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention

Good with...

Jazzy J was in rough shape when we brought her into LOVEPAWS Rescue. When we pulled her from the shelter she was extremely sick with pneumonia and very pregnant with 9 puppies, so we took her straight to the ER where she spent a few days getting treatment. A week after she arrived in her foster home, she gave birth to 9 beautiful babies, all of which were adopted at 9 weeks of age. She was the perfect mama to her puppies and finally, she could rest and her body could start recovering from all she had been through, but unfortunately she then experienced a botched spay surgery that required life-saving repair surgery and tons of crate rest. This girl has been through so much and deserves the world! Jazz came to our family as a temporary foster. We fell in love and decided to keep her, but our older dog and Jazz both want all of our love, all of the time, and that has made their relationship tense and unsafe. Jazz deserves a loving, caring home where she can be someone's one and only pet, and get all of the snuggles to herself.

Jazz's special talent is her ability to sleep anywhere. At any time. In any condition. Once I took her on a walk that was a little too long for her, and she just lay down on the site of the street and went to sleep. Another time, we took her on a long hike up the side of a mountain, and she just decided she was done. My husband had to fireman's carry her down the hill. We have since learned to better consider her needs on an outing. She likes them short and sweet, like her :-)

Jazz's dream day would start with you sitting next to her still sleeping loaf of a body while you drink your coffee so she can gently snuggle into or onto you, followed by breakfast at 7:30 (I think she can tell time). After that would be a morning snooze on the couch in her still-warm spot while you get ready for your day, then on to a walk. Some days it is a long walk to sniff all of the things, some days we don't make it off of the porch! When returning form her walk, she will stare into your soul until you give her a morning treat. After this she is happy to settle in on the couch, in a sun spot, or even in her crate for a few hours of sleep. Again. The afternoon usually comes with a burst of energy. She may vigorously chew on a hard bone or antler - that one missing front tooth doesn't slow her down! - or want to play tug or chase a ball. This burst of energy doesn't last long - a few minutes at most - and then she is back to a snooze. After dinner around 5:30 (again, she just KNOWS when it is time), she'll take a walk. Maybe. Maybe not. She'll end the day with a snuggle up on the couch with her favorite human(s), and be snoring and out for the night by 7:30.

Jazz is a beautiful 5-year old pup whose favorite activity is just being with her people. She doesn’t let her 60-pound, tri-color self prevent her from expressing her inner lapdog. Snoozing on the couch next to you is fine, but sleeping on your lap is her heart’s desire. She is a loving, breathing, luxuriously soft...weighted blanket. When up and about, Jazz loves belly rubs, playing with her toys, and chewing on hard bones. She is fully crate trained, and knows “wait” and “sit” when she is on a leash. She loves people, doesn’t mind sharing her toys or bones with humans, and wants to be your one and only. Jazz is an affectionate, low-energy furball. A chill dog, she has no problem with a quick pee in the yard on rainy, snowy, or hot days. A few minutes of playing with a toy and she’s ready for a snooze. Her variety of silly sleeping positions are sure you make you laugh. If you are looking for a mellow, loyal sidekick who will shower you with affection, you have found your dog. Jazz deserves a home where she can get all the love, attention, and snuggles possible.
