Jaycee Yorkshire Terrier & Shih Tzu Mix Aiken, SC

Oh sweet Jaycee. Where do we start? This precious yorkie mix is 7 years, only 12 pounds, and she’s trying to figure out what a normal dog life is all about. At first when coming to rescue she was skittish and required a leash while in a fenced in yard. She would run as fast as she could and look for an escape. She didn’t understand this new way of life and being a part of a family at all - it was scary! Loud noises around the house that are typical to us are terrifying to her, and it took some time for her to warm up to her foster parents. With time, these issues have gotten better, but she’ll still need a secure fenced in yard for her own safety. She’s fine with other dogs and cats, but she mostly just wants to be in the same room as her people. Sometimes she likes a good snuggle, and sometimes she likes to be on her own, but she always likes to be close by. Everything about being a dog is so new to her, she needs a special adopter who is patient and will give her love and time to blossom. Her foster parents are currently working on potty and crate training and she’s doing well! They’ve also started seeing little hints of her personality and she seems like she’s actually a pretty silly girl once she feels safe. Are you the special person Jaycee needs?
