James River's Story

James River-Lab/Red Heeler male, ~ 2 yr. (Oct. 2025) new photos 4/2026
Contact rescuebc@hotmail.com for an application.
River came to Rescue when his owner could no longer care for him. He was left with a Trainer who put JR in a Prison Training Program. He has done terrific! He is now housetrained and crate trained. He's had basic obedience training and knows husbandry and grooming. JR has been described as a medium energy dog, but not a couch potato. He will enjoy walks, hikes and then watching TV with you. At the Prison, he's been with all kinds of dogs and is great with everyone. Super friendly. He's not had a chance to live with cats and children, so that is unknown. But he certainly is bred to be a food family pet. He shares his toys and food, too!
JR's adoption fee is $350 to help cover the medical costs of getting ready for adoption. For our application, please email rescuebc@hotmail.com Please include your phone number and location for future reference.

From Liz-head Trainer in the Prison Program.

He’s not a couch potato of course when you asked me their energy level I have to base it off of what I enjoy and what I like and what I’m living with I say he’s mid range. I think he would like hiking. I think he would like camping. I think he would like to go for walks around the neighborhood, he’s pretty happy go lucky the trainers really like him. He’s cute as a button, but I would not recommend him for someone. Who’s a senior citizen. That’s not in good shape and wants to get out again he is definitely not a couch, potato dog. Yes, he can lie calmly. Yes, he can play with his toys, but he saw someone you know he’s young.
