The Bourbon County Rescue is often a last resort for many animals in need. Currently we have many special needs animals including puppies battling multiple illnesses, and multitudes of puppies and kittens who were abandoned or left at the shelter before they were ready to leave their mothers. We treat a multitude of medical emergencies from illness to broken bones. Donations are always welcome. We are a 501c3 non-profit.
The Bourbon County Rescue saves animals from dire circumstances. We take animals from rural high kill shelters in Eastern Kentucky and other animals in need of help through abandonment or medical emergency. All animals are provided with medical care either through our non-profit spay and neuter clinic; The Bourbon County Low Cost Spay and Neuter Clinic in Paris, KY or our network of highly qualified veterinarians.
Donations are always welcome.
The first step in our process is to email us for an application. Once we have reviewed and pre-approved an application, we will contact you to arrange a meeting at our next Meet and Greet adoption event. Our events are held at Petco in Frederick, MD. Pets may be adopted that day. We will review medical records with you, you will sign a contract and pay the adoption fee. The fees help to cover the cost of getting our pets ready for adoption which includes age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tests for dogs over 6 months, FeLV/FIV testing for cats, microchip, spay/neuter and anything else the pet needs. All proceeds are dedicated to caring for the animals in the rescue.
Fees for individual animals are listed on their specific posts. Cash only.
When contacting us, please be patient. We are 100% volunteer based!
