Jake 's Story

Jake came from a severe hoarding situation where 32 dogs were removed from extremely poor conditions, including heavy flea and tick infestations, filth, and very limited human interaction. Jake is one of the 19 dogs still at the shelter, and while he was previously not on the adoption floor due to being more reserved, he has become more confident over time and has recently been placed on adoption. The busy shelter environment can still be overwhelming at times, but Jake has shown that he enjoys human attention when he is out of his kennel and is learning that people can be kind and safe. He is doing really well on a leash and continues to improve with each outing. Jake does well with other dogs and is currently kenneled with another. He will do best in a patient, understanding home that allows him to continue building confidence at his own pace, as he has already shown how much progress he is capable of making.
