Jaida's Story

Jaida is a 9 year old rottie mix, looking for her person that will remind her what living in a home is all about…soft couches, warm beds, breakfast, dinner, treats and chews! You know, the good life! Not the life of a dog living in a boarding kennel. Jaida loves the staff there, but you see this kennel is in the country…surrounded by trees…and bugs…and other gross things that a pampered pup like Jaida isn’t accustomed to being around. She prefers her bugs come in the form of stuffed animals filled with fluff and squeakers that she can demolish!

Jaida has a lot of questions about being out in the country, for example, “Why do flying bugs exist?” Or “What is that thing moving under the leaves?” And “Where are all the carpets? This place is just grass, dirt and mud.” Often times I have to explain to her that butterflies don’t attack and that stick moved because she stepped on the other end of it. She is a city girl, not meant for country living…unless it comes with a house where she can stay inside, more often than not.

Sometimes I forget that Jaida once had a very loving home, for most of her life in fact! Unfortunately, as her family grew in size, it became painfully obvious that Jaida and babies or toddlers do not mix well. Therefore, Jaida would do best in a home without children. Occassional visits from kids would be okay, as long as she has a safe, comfortable spot away from what might be loud and boisterous activities.

She needs a quiet home, very low-key comings and goings, a place to truly relax and maybe watch the nature she despises so much from the safety and comfort of a couch in front of a big window full of the morning sunshine.

Jaida does enjoy her walks and occasional hikes, but does prefer that these take place on paved trails, rather than rocky, muddy terrain. After all, she’s a lady, and ladies do not enjoy being dirty. She also prefers walks that end with a nap on the couch and not returning to a kennel.

Jaida also spent a little over a year in the HOPE Program, the Hounds of Prison Education, where she spent time getting 1-on-1 training 24/7. She did great in the Program and was paroled! Because of her time in the Program, she comes with FREE LIFETIME training, which means if her adopter ever has any questions or issues with behavior or training, HOPE will work with that family for free! CPAA does require that adopters be within 45 minutes of the Camp Hill, PA area in order to provide in-person training.
