Meet Jacques

I am Jacques' foster dad and, I have to be honest, when he first arrived my first thought was, "wow. he's a lot bigger than he looks in his pictures". My second thought was "I hope he's friendly ". His head is enormous and he's a bit intimidating at first sight.

Bit it didn't take long for Jacques to show me the meaning of a true "gentle giant". He was very malnourished and had been thrown to the side of the road at a rural dumping spot by his callous former owners. But his pure spirit shined through nonetheless.

He sits in my lap as though he were a Chihuahua (he is an 80 pound Cane Corso mix) and he hugs me like a child, the side of his gigantic face pressed against mine, fully trusting and revelling in the affection that he constantly craves.

On walks and on trips to our neighborhood bar he greets strangers like long lost friends, his body pressed up against their legs, his tail wagging in excitement. When we get home he walks around the house greeting each of the dogs he shares his temporary home with. He gives kisses through the bars of their enclosures. He politely walks wide circles around my older dogs to ensure them he means them no harm, so careful not to knock them over.

This is a special sweetheart of a dog. He is 80 pounds of pure love, neutered, heartworm negative, up to date on routine vaccinations and very well house trained. He is 2 1/2 years old and very energetic and would like a person or a family who will keep him exercised and include him in lots of fun activities.

Someone is going to be very happy that they've added this truly wonderful being to their family. Maybe you.

If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to please visit our website to complete an application and read all of our FAQs: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt

**Please do not use the "Introduce Yourself" feature. The information needed to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application. An inquiry, questions or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application. All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info would be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the number of introductions/questions received (hundreds daily) we ask you submit an application on our website (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue).

The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. Please see our website for more information.
