They have spent their entire lives together, and suddenly finding themselves in a new environment has been a lot for these two little boys.

Thankfully, they have each other.

Right now, Harley and Jack are leaning on one another for comfort and reassurance as they adjust to everything that has changed. Their familiar faces, familiar smells, and the bond they share are helping them feel safe while they figure out their new surroundings.

Because they have been together their entire lives, Harley and Jack must be adopted together. These two aren't simply kennel mates or friends—they are brothers who have always had one another.

Jack is a sweet boy who would love nothing more than to find a family who will welcome both brothers into their home and give them the security they need to start their next chapter.

We know asking someone to adopt two dogs is a bigger commitment, but when you meet Harley and Jack, you'll see why they belong together. They have already lost the home they knew. They shouldn't have to lose each other, too.

Harley and Jack are looking for a family willing to open their hearts to two little brothers who have spent their whole lives side by side.

Sometimes the greatest comfort in a new beginning is having your best friend beside you. And for Jack, that best friend will always be Harley.

FOSTER UPDATE. Since being with their foster, she says it is clear this pair will adapt easily to a new environment:

Jack & Harley joined my foster home three weeks ago. I had just begun to foster a breeder-release Shih Tzu who was so shy and traumatized that I thought bringing in a pair of dogs who had lived together in a home for years (10) might help him to better understand what life is like outside of a cage.
Best decision ever! These two have definitely done their work without even knowing.

They can be somewhat reactive when new people first show up, or we meet new dogs on our walks, but once they get a few pets or sniffs in, all is calm. It is just that initial reaction you have to get used to. In my home, one with a literal zoo of chipmunks and squirrels in the backyard, they are inquisitive but quiet as they gaze out the windows at all the autumn activity.

These two are literally “turn-key”. They understand life in a home and know how to make themselves at home. They are comfortable up and down stairs, getting into and out of harnesses and leashes and cars, leash walking (more exploring really) together, and are great with my other foster dog who is a shy breeder release who benefits from watching these two “be dogs”. I don’t have any cats but lots of humans have met them, and after the initial “stranger danger” bark, they love-up on everyone who they meet.

Speaking of barking, Chihuahua’s have a bad rep for being yappy, but not these two. They will bark when unexpected people or dogs show up, but only for a short while before they go back to whatever they were doing. My backyard is home to tons of squirrels and chipmunks, and Jack and Harley have lots of windows to look out of, but they don’t bark. On a leash they may make a “fake attempt” at chasing, but they are no longer puppies and the joy of chasing is worn out by now.

They are each other’s best buds, but their real favorite is the human at home. They love to sleep with me and be at my side when I sit down. They are great nappers.

Frankly, they don’t engage with my other foster much unless they are all trying to get in on the treat action. They far prefer spending time with me and each other. They are just a great example of what a beloved dog, or in their case, pair of dogs, looks like. They will be fine in a home with or without other dogs. I don’t have any cats, so I can’t speak to how they would be with cats.

They are fully house trained, used to a regular routine of feeding and short walks, and love to make themselves at home on any soft surface.

Week 4 update
A full month with these two sweethearts. Life with Jack & Harley is a true joy. They are fully housetrained and absolutely love their people and other dogs. They have met so many people while they have been with me, and everyone has fallen in love. All they need is someone to give them a little attention, and a quick belly rub. Bonus points for a treat!

If you have the room in your home and heart for a bonded pair of mature Chihuahuas who love each other and everyone who joins their orbit, then Jack & Harley is the pair for you.

Fostered in East Troy.

See more on their facebook page: Uknowuready

ADOPTION FEE: $350

To adopt the FIRST STEP is to complete an APPLICATION at fluffydog.net

Adopters must be 24 years of age.
