Jack's Story

Meet Jack!

Jack is a sweet, affectionate 7-year-old terrier mix who weighs approximately 15 pounds. He gets along beautifully with other dogs of all sizes and would be happy either joining a home with canine companions or being the center of his person’s world. And Jack truly does love his person—he is a devoted little companion who enjoys being close to the people he trusts.

Jack has an old injury of unknown origin that causes him to become stiff, particularly in the mornings. He may need to remain on carprofen or similar veterinarian-recommended medication long-term to help keep him comfortable. His stiffness doesn’t keep him from enjoying life, though! Jack still loves to play with toys, and stuffed toys with squeakers are his absolute favorite.

Jack does very well with housebreaking when someone is available to let him outside every couple of hours. If he must go longer between potty breaks, he may need to wear a belly band. He strongly dislikes being crated, but the good news is that he has done wonderfully when left uncrated and unsupervised in his foster home. He has never been destructive.

Jack has not been tested with cats or children, so we cannot say for certain how he would do with them. He has shown himself to be a gentle, friendly boy in his foster home.

Jack would be an especially wonderful companion for a senior or someone who spends a good deal of time at home and is looking for a small, loving dog to share their days. He may have a few special needs, but what he offers in return is immeasurable: affection, companionship, and the loyal heart of a very sweet boy.
