Jack's Story

Meet Jack.

If you are looking for a dog who wears his heart on his sleeve and is entirely made of love, he is your guy. Jack is 7 months old, weighs 37 pounds, and just traveled all the way from a shelter in Arkansas to Virginia for an opportunity to find a real home.

Jack is outgoing, friendly, and just wants to be near people. He loves to be loved, adores being held, and will literally give you warm, gentle hugs. If you get close enough, he will lean right against your face to give you big, wet kisses. He is fantastic with kids and gets along really well with other dogs, so he would fit easily into a busy family home.

He is also smart, food-motivated, and eager to please. That combination made it easy for him to learn how to sit in under an hour after arriving in Virginia. He absolutely loves dog toys and already knows how to play a perfect game of fetch—he actually brings the ball right back to you.

While he is quick to learn, he still has plenty of funny puppy charm. He has a wonderfully amusing, clumsy run because his legs look just a little too long for his body. He hasn't quite figured out how to run gracefully yet, so watching his goofy, uncoordinated zoomies is guaranteed to brighten your worst days.

Jack didn't have the easiest start to life. He was originally found as a stray before ending up in the shelter, so he is currently in his foster home learning house rules. He hasn't had much experience living inside a home yet, but given how eager he is to please, we are sure he is going to catch on very quickly.

He has a heart of pure gold and so much potential. He just needs someone to give him the chance he has been waiting for.

If you are interested in adopting there is an application below: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/PDAR/Dog

Most of our dogs are rescued from high-intake shelters or straight off the streets in South Texas, where packs of stray animals run loose. Your adoption fee directly covers the significant costs required to bring these dogs to safety. We are a registered non-profit rescue; any excess revenue goes directly toward treating animals with major medical needs who would otherwise be left behind and euthanized.

Your adoption fee fully covers:
Transport: Safe transport from Texas to our local foster homes (this cost alone is $200 to $230 per dog).
Vetting & Preventive Care: Spay or neuter surgery (if old enough), core vaccines, deworming, a heartworm test (if old enough), and a microchip.

VCA Medical Partnership: Every adoption includes a complimentary first exam at any participating VCA Animal Hospital within the first 14 days. VCA also provides a limited health guarantee (up to $250) for minor illnesses—like kennel cough or ear infections—diagnosed during that initial two-week window.

Important Rescue Policies
No Foster-to-Adopt Program: We do not offer a foster-to-adopt option. The majority of our dogs are already settled into loving local foster homes, and we aim to minimize unnecessary moves for their emotional well-being. Additionally, our rescue insurance policy strictly prohibits it.

Breed and Size Guarantees: We cannot guarantee the breed mix or adult size of any dog in our care. Listed breeds are our best guess based on physical traits and personality. Because our dogs are rescues with unknown histories, we cannot guarantee that a dog is not mixed with pit bull. This is a standard reality of adopting a rescue animal.

Stay Connected!
For rescue updates, happy tails, and to see our latest adoptable dogs, you can follow us on Facebook: https://share.google/S0mftiOuZYToqromm

Paws Deep Animal Rescue's Adoption Policy
The first step to adoption, once you have identified a pet you would like to adopt, is to fill out an adoption application. You can speed up the adoption process by calling your vet ahead of time to give us permission to speak to them in regards to your current and past pets. You will be contacted to schedule an interview and a meet and greet after the adoption contract is approved.. We will need proof of age with a form of ID. Once we have gotten approval that you are allowed to have pets where you live, your adoption application is approved, the pet is altered, and adoption payment is received, only then will the animal be released. Some pets may be able to go home the day after adoption contract is approved others it could be a week. If the animal is deemed too young to be altered we will have the adopter sign a spay and neuter contract. The animal will need to be neutered when it is 6 months old and we will need proof provided to us by a licensed veterinarian. Once there is proof provided, the rescue will reimburse $100 of the adoption fee. If there is more than one qualifying approved applicant that is a match then the applicant who first inquired will get the opportunity to meet the pet and decide if they want to adopt before it goes to the next person in line. Note: Some animals will require home inspections or a fenced yard. Applying for a dog does not mean automatic approval. We reserve the right to deny applications. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_j7Qyk269a7uzMcOh1Ffx3PU9femw7Xd3t-Nj8TOfBE/edit Follow us on TikTok: @pawsdeepanimalrescue
