Ivy's Story
Meet Ivy!! (case #11012)

At around 10–12 months old, Ivy is the perfect mix of tender-hearted sweetheart and playful young pup. When she first arrived at the shelter, the world felt a little overwhelming—but give her a moment, and you’ll see her true personality bloom. These days, Ivy is all about gentle affection, leaning into her favorite people for pets and quietly asking for love with those soft, soulful eyes.

Ivy is still figuring things out (as any young dog is!), so she’s looking for a family ready to guide her as she grows. She already knows “sit” (smart girl!) and is very food motivated, which makes training both fun and rewarding. She loves checking in with her person for reassurance, so with a little patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement, Ivy has all the makings of a wonderfully well-mannered companion.

On walks, Ivy’s enthusiasm can take over—she may pull on leash and get a bit jumpy when excited—so continued obedience training will help her channel that energy in the right direction. Think of her as your future adventure buddy in training!

When it comes to canine friends, Ivy prefers to take things slow. She can feel unsure around more outgoing dogs, so she may thrive as the only pup in the home or with a calm, respectful dog who understands her need for space. For kids, she’d do best with dog-savvy humans aged 12+, as her bouncy nature might be a bit much for little ones.

Ivy will also need plenty of physical exercise and mental enrichment to keep her happy—puzzle toys, training games, and active playtime will be her jam. In return, she’ll give you endless sweetness, loyalty, and those heart-melting cuddle moments.

If you’re looking for a loving, active companion and are ready to help a shy girl blossom into her best self, Ivy might just be your perfect match. This allows our Adoption Staff to spend quality time with each potential home to ensure the most successful matches are made between the animals and their new families.

*Please note: we only adopt within Ontario
