Ivy's Story
This young lady, Ivy, at 1.5 yrs old, came to the shelter end of September... Released to us because she didn't get along with the owners other dog. Ivy needs to be your only pet. She can be adopted to a family with older children. A strong beauty, who has a lot of energy as most dogs her age do! She enjoys being pet and a "lap" dog too. Ivy enjoys a few nylabones in her kennel to chew on. Ivy can get carsick as we found out recently taking her to the vet's office, she behaved beautifully there even with seeing two other dogs in the waiting room. We love this beautiful lady. Please come meet her soon. We offer a free session with our trainer, Canine Cooperative, once an adoption is finalized.

Stop by to fill out an adoption application and spend as much time as you like with our dogs. We do not adopt first come; we always select the best placement for our animals. Please call your veterinarian to permit them to speak with us for our vet check. If you rent, bring proof (lease/contract) that you are allowed to have a dog. If you have a dog at home, a meet-and-greet will be scheduled for the second visit. We offer a free session with our trainer, Canine Cooperative, once an adoption is finalized.

Our adoption fee is $150 for dogs. This includes heartworm and Lyme testing, flea/tick preventatives, deworming, age-appropriate vaccines, and spay/neuter if six months or older. If they are too young, we require a $50 deposit that will be refunded upon proof that the pet has been altered.

For more info on our shelter and available pets, check us out online:

West Milford Animal Shelter Society
Lycosky Drive, West Milford, NJ 07480
(973) 728-2859

Visiting Hours
Mon - Fri: 10a - 1p
Wed Night: 7:30p - 9p
Weekends: 10a - 3p
