Meet Italy!<br/><br/>Italy is a 4 year old, Neutered Male, Shih Tzu!<br/><br/>Little Italy looks like an Ewok but has the heart and spirit of a Wookie! He's small but has a big dogs spirit. He's a very playful guy and walks great on a leash. Due to a lack of socialization in the past, Italy has some baggage and is going to need a very specific home ready to work with him and develop a stable routine. Italy loves people but takes time to earn trust with new people when it comes to handling. Once you are in his inner circle he's quite tolerant.<br/><br/>Italy has significant resource guarding behaviors with his food and treats. He will need a home diligent when feeding and giving treats that he will be respectfully left alone and possibly fed in a crate for meal times. Due to his guarding behaviors he will do best in a home without other dogs, but should do ok with cats (although he may be playful?). To make sure everyone in the home remains safe, Italy will do best without children. <br/><br/>With time and patience, we feel that Italy can develop into a loved and cherished family pet, he just needs a chance to form a bond with his people and gain some confidence in himself.<br/><br/>Visit our website to fill out the adoption application: https://bit.ly/HSofMacombadoptionapplication<br/><br/>If your application was approved and you received a call back from the Humane Society of Macomb for a meet and greet, plan to take the animal home that day. We cannot place puppies/dogs on hold to come pick up for another day.<br/><br/>All Humane Society of Macomb animals are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, tested and microchipped.Thank you for showing an interest in our pets.
