Iris's Story

Meet Iris, a gorgeous 2-year-old Blue Merle Great Dane looking for a fresh start.

Iris was surrendered through a local veterinary hospital that reached out to us for help. From what we've gathered, her previous family felt she was "too much puppy" for their home. Like many young Great Danes, Iris doesn't realize her size and can be a bit clumsy and exuberant.

Iris previously lived with dogs and small children and reportedly adored the kids. Since coming into rescue, we've seen that she can be nervous in new situations and around unfamiliar people, particularly men. When she's unsure, she may freeze and become hand-shy.

Once Iris feels comfortable, she's an absolute love bug. She is convinced she's a lap dog and wants to be as close to her people as possible. She loves car rides, hanging her head out the window, and soaking up attention from her favorite humans. She especially loves women and will lean fully into them to snuggle.

Iris has lived with senior dogs but has been somewhat nervous around new dogs she's met, appearing more fearful than reactive. Because she's still gaining confidence, we're looking for a home that will be understanding of her sensitive nature and committed to helping her feel safe and secure.

If you're looking for a giant-sized companion with a sweet heart and are willing to give her the time she needs to settle in, Iris may be the girl for you.

She will come spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and 4dx tested.

Apply for adoption at www.phoenixanimalrescue.com
Adoption fee: $525

Phoenix Animal Rescue
Chester Springs, Pa
Kennel License #5152
