Ingar (NOT YET AVAILABLE)'s Story

Please read the pet description IN IT'S ENTIRETY before applying. Thank you for your cooperation.
NOT YET TAKING APPLICATIONS – NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION

NEW INTAKE 5/28/2026: Ingar - male - approx 7 months old - 13.1 pounds - Golden Retriever/ Poodle mix

Reason for intake: TERRIBLE! This dog came to us as a stray from the Sarepta / Springhill area. The "animal control" there (which is actually a vet clinic) didn't have any room for him so we took him in. The FIRST thing we did was send him to our vet for skin scrape and as suspected he has Sarcoptic aka Scabies mange. He's also loaded with hookworms. He has scabs and wounds and crust ALL OVER HIS frail, emaciated body. He has mats around his hind area that were stuck to him like cement. He's anemic and just miserable. Our vet gave him a Bravecto first thing. We are dipping him in Lime/Sulphur dip every other day to help speed up the eradicate the mites and bathing him in Dawn dish soap alternating days. He's on several medications for itching and to clear of the skin infection. We were able to shave off a lot of the matting but his face area will have to wait. He'd already been through so much... but we will make sure we get to it soon. Here is a link to a REEL we posted on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1QSi9Z2u45/

In two weeks, we'll send him back to the vet for neutering... but right now, he needs to get healthy and the mites need to be eradicated.

Unfortunately, his owner will likely never be held accountable for this but sometimes judgment is handed down in other ways.

NOT TAKING APPLICATIONS: Many dogs, particularly breeder, hoarder or senior dogs, can have multiple medical issues that need addressed. Additionally, sometimes we take in young puppies requiring multiple vaccinations and/or quarantining. In this particular case, we are not yet taking applications either due to age or possible illness or some other reason. We will post when s(he) is ready for adoption. In the interest of fairness, EARLY application submissions will NOT be considered. Please note... we cannot respond to messages/emails, etc., on dogs that are NOT yet available for adoption. Please wait until the dog is available for adoption. We will post him or her on Facebook in our Adoptable Dog Album pinned to the top of our page which you can follow at this link: https://www.facebook.com/share/1B46skRWF5/ OR you can keep checking our website at www.roadtorescuela.org. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” ~ Gandhi

Be responsible ~ Always spay/neuter, keep your dogs on heartworm prevention, vaccinate against disease... and if you bring a pet into your life, commit to that pet for life. Blessings.
