Indigo and Ren - Bonded Pair 150's Story

Ren & Indigo — Bonded Brothers

Ren and Indigo are approximately 1-year-old Catahoula Leopard Dog mixes looking for a second chance together. These brothers were adopted from CARE last year but were recently returned through no fault of their own. Because they are extremely bonded and happiest together, they are available for adoption as a pair.

Both boys are neutered, up to date on vaccines, and current on heartworm and flea prevention. Their combined adoption fee is $150.

Ren and Indigo are calm, gentle, affectionate boys who love following their foster around the house and simply being near their person. They enjoy walks, reliably do their business outside, and keep their shared crate clean. At night, they happily sleep together in a large crate because being together is where they feel most comfortable.

Before returning to CARE, the boys spent most of their time living outside, so indoor life is still new to them. Some unfamiliar household sights and sounds can startle them at first, but their curiosity quickly takes over and they come back to investigate. Their foster is introducing them to everyday things like the vacuum, television, music, and normal household activity, and they're adjusting more every day.

Indigo was recently neutered on September 2 and is still learning that marking isn't appropriate indoors. His foster currently uses a belly band inside while working on this behavior, and he does well with it. Prospective adopters should be prepared to continue reinforcing his new indoor manners as he adjusts.

These two sweet boys have already made wonderful progress. What they want most is pretty simple: a safe home, a patient family, and each other.

Bonded pair — must be adopted together
Crate trained & outdoor potty trained
Calm, gentle & affectionate
Enjoy walks and being with their people
$150 adoption fee for both

To meet one of our adoptable pets or to start the adoption process, please access the adoption application on our website, www.crossroadsanimalrescue.org or download and email it to crossroadsanimalrescuesc@gmail.com. We will then approve you (sending in the application does not obligate you to adopt) and we can set up a time for you to meet one or more of our pets. You can then pay the adoption fee and officially adopt after meeting your new family member. Alternatively, you can do the adoption over the phone before meeting your new pet. The benefit to this is that we will hold the pet for you. However, the adoption fee is non-refundable if you changed your mind after adopting over the phone. Most of our pets are obtained from animal control and therefore we are not certain of their breed or breed mix. We list breed mixes that they most resemble or that their former owners said they were. However, we don't make any guarantees about breed - it is a best guess! Our adoption fees include the spay/neuter surgery, deworming, vet exam, and up to date vaccines. It also includes microchipping as well as heartworm testing or feline leukemia testing. We are happy to adopt out-of-state (and even out of the country!) but transportation for the adopted pet is the responsibility of the new pet owner. If you cannot adopt a pet at this time but would like to support our rescue, please click on the "Sponsor a Pet" button. Your donation will help feed the dogs, cats, small animals, and horses at CARE. Please email at crossroadsanimalrescuesc@gmail.com or call us at (864)972-9906 for more information. This phone number will reach Crossroads Animal Hospital, which is the home of CARE. During business hours, a receptionist will be able to speak with you regarding our adoptable pets. After business hours, the only way to contact CARE is via email. Our puppies and kittens are also eligible for 10% off the rest of the vaccines in their puppy/kitten vaccination series at Crossroads Animal Hospital. Most adult pets are spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Puppies and kittens may have the surgery before adoption or we may have new owners return later for the surgery.
