This stunning 4 month old, appx 25 lb Australian Cattle Dog/Australian Shepherd mix, is smart, sweet, energetic and curious. He will make a wonderful canine companion!

Here is what he needs in an adopter/adoptive home:

1. His ideal adopter is dog experienced. In addition to understanding the basics of puppy care and training, you must have experience and/or knowledge of the herding breeds which are unique and have their own quirks and needs. IYKYK!

2. His adopter has a stay at home/work from home/take to work schedule in order to continue his training and all-important socialization.

3. His dream come true is other dogs in the home as he LOVES other dogs. If he is the only dog (and gets allllll the attention) he would need access to other dogs in his neighborhood, at friends' houses, at doggie play group/daycare, etc (after 16 weeks of age).

4. Because of his age and typical herding breed puppy behaviors, we are not able to consider families with children under eight years of age.

Ian is crate trained and is sleeping through the night! He is *this* close to being house trained and will probably only need minor tweaking in his new home. He has the typical ACD energy but he can also chill to watch a movie with you. He loves to play inside as well as outside with his foster siblings and with toys... the tunnels and climbing toys in his foster's yard are his favs with chasing the squeaky ball a close second! He’s been checking out the creek on his walks and he’s very interested in the water. The (baby) pool party at a recent play date was a big hit!

Regarding exercise, he is currently walking with his foster every day (be sure to watch his video!) and continued daily exercise is a MUST!

Ian has been dewormed, had two Vet wellness checks, received his first and second DHPP vaccines, and has been given his first and second dose of monthly prescription heartworm and flea/tick preventative He will need additional vaccines as well as additional prescription preventatives over the next few weeks/months. His neuter is the responsibility of his adopter and by Virginia law must be performed by six months of age.

Please note that Ian's adoption fee is $375.

***Regarding Ian's breed mix***

We have a photo of Ian's Mom (available on request) and she is definitely a Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler mix; Dad however, is unknown. His sibling’s DNA was recently Embark tested and came back 75% Australian Cattle Dog and 25% Australian Shepherd. We feel that this is also Ian’s mix but HIS precise breed mix is unknown. We have listed his projected adult size as "large" (51-100 lbs); we feel he will most likely be in the 60-70 lb range. We can make no absolute guarantees as to his size or appearance when he is fully grown.
