This sweet boy came to us as a stray, so unfortunately, we don't know much about his history. What we do know is that Humpty is a friendly, affectionate gentleman who is happy to meet people and ready to find a family of his own.<br/><br/>As a true hound, Humpty has plenty to say! Bluetick Coonhounds are known for being vocal, so his new family should be prepared for barking, baying, and the occasional hound commentary. They are also scent-driven, curious, energetic dogs who were bred to follow their noses and work independently. That can mean a few challenges — including selective listening when an especially interesting smell comes along, a tendency to wander if given the opportunity, and a need for regular exercise and mental enrichment. <br/><br/>Humpty is still adjusting to life with us, and he was very recently neutered, so he's still working through some old habits. At the moment, one of those habits is occasionally trying to hump a person's leg. With time, consistency, redirection, and continued adjustment after his neuter, we're hopeful this behavior will improve. His adopters should be prepared to patiently help him learn what is expected of him.<br/><br/>Despite a few quirks, Humpty is a very nice, sweet, friendly man who deserves a chance to show his family what a wonderful companion he can be. If you're looking for a lovable hound with a great face, a charming personality, and plenty of opinions to share, Humpty Dumpty might just be your guy!<br/><br/>Humpty's ideal family will understand and appreciate the hound lifestyle, be patient as he settles in, and be ready to give this sweet boy the structure, exercise, and love he deserves. <br/><br/>At the Humane Society of Midland County, all animals adopted will be spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations prior to an adoption. Dogs over 6 months of age will be heartworm tested, and any dog with a positive test will receive treatment at No Appointment Needed to Meet Adoptable Animals! <br/>We have open adoption hours, and walk-ins are always welcome! While filling out an application lets us know you're interested in adopting, it does not hold an animal, and applications are not required to meet the available animals.
