Hugo's Story

Hugo is a French Bulldog x Boston Terrier mix who was born around April 2024. He came to us from someone who claimed to have no time for him, but it quickly became obvious he had some GI-related medical issues, and that was likely the reason for the rehome request. We thought we had the issues figured out, and you may remember that we posted Hugo for adoption back in the fall, but the issues quickly got worse, and Hugo was returned. After many months (and gaining 10 healthy pounds!) we are confident that Hugo is ready for his forever home, but his adopter will need to be ready for continued medical maintenance. We believe Hugo has Ulcerative Colitis, but he does not need to be on any special food or daily medication. He sometimes has flare-ups, which result in loose stool, and during the flare-ups, he takes a medication called Baytril, which is relatively inexpensive.

Hugo adores everyone and is very food and treat-motivated. He is like Tigger, and essentially on springs, so he needs an active adopter. Hugo is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. He is being fostered in Bay City, MI and his adoption fee is $200. You can apply for him at www.mittenmuttsdogrescue.com/adopt
