With patience and consistency, he’s learning how to settle into home life and continues to grow more confident each day. He has the sharp mind and herding instincts of a Border Collie, paired with the gentle, affectionate nature of his Great Pyrenees and Bernese Mountain Dog roots.<br/><br/>He’s discovered just how cozy couches can be—and absolutely thinks he should be invited to cuddle up with you! Houston forms strong bonds with his people and loves being close to them, looking to them for reassurance and connection.<br/><br/>Energy & Needs:<br/>Houston has an active mind and body, and he’s happiest when he has an outlet for both. He loves enrichment activities like scent games, puzzle toys, and “mind games” that keep him engaged. Walks are becoming more enjoyable for him as he builds confidence, though busy roads and loud cars can still be overwhelming—he’s actively working through this and making progress.<br/><br/>Because of his herding instincts, Houston will do best in a home that can provide structured exercise, mental stimulation, and a secure environment where he can feel safe and succeed.<br/><br/>Training & Behaviour:<br/><br/>- Knows basic commands and is highly food/treat motivated<br/>- Mild resource guarding around high-value treats (with people and dogs), but responds well to trades (especially peanut butter!)<br/>- Continues to improve on leash skills with guidance and patience<br/>- Crate trained and settles well—loves having a cozy, covered space<br/>- Very people-oriented and thrives on connection and bonding<br/><br/>Compatibility:<br/><br/>Cats: Has lived with a calm, established cat and respected boundaries; higher prey drive outdoors<br/>Dogs: May require slow introductions; some resource guarding tendencies<br/>People: Friendly with men and women<br/>Children: Limited experience; no concerns observed so far<br/><br/>Ideal Forever Home:<br/>Houston will shine in a home that understands his need for both mental and physical outlets.
