Horace's Story
Horace is a is a wonderful but timid dog waiting for a family to help bring him out of his shell and grow his confidence! He is a happy boy who loves walks, rides, meeting new dogs and new people—truly up for any new adventure with his humans despite his own fears. He may start out wary of new situations and people buy quickly warms up when shown it is safe.
In the short time in his foster he has already grown more confident and happy. He is low energy for his breed, so is comfortable staying at home and taking a nap or looking out the window at passerby. But he does loves his daily walks and “human are home from work” zoomies. He walks great in his harness when he can go at his own pace—but collars are not for this boy.
Horace would be best served in a home with another dog, so he has a built-in buddy to learn from and lean on. A home that can establish a routine for him with calm confident dog people will also help him thrive. He is currently working on establishing a bathroom routine with his foster, but it’s a bit cold out for this southern boy. He is estimated to be about two years old and an Australian Shepherd mix. He is here in Maine, in foster, awaiting his family to find him.

If you think you might be interested in adopting Horace or just want to get pre-approved to adopt through us, please fill out an application on our website.
